What time of year is it? Summer! Which can only mean one thing; many people will be shelling out thousands of pounds to ensure that their wedding day will be considered a very special day indeed. Those in the Bespoke Tailoring trade will be rubbing their hands with glee as earnest families search the world over for the most decedent fabrics and flattering designs to cover the middle age paunches and bingo wings so apparent on the middle aged customers if the wrong outfit is selected. With magazine splashes of top celebrities sporting the very best of attire it is only natural that us mere mortals would wish to replicate some of that glamour, hence the need for Bespoke Tailoring as opposed to high street ensembles that are pretty much guaranteed to gape and cling in all the wrong places. However, it is not just the families of blushing brides who will need Bespoke Tailoring; summer is also prom season for sweet 16 year olds wanting a shot at being a princess for the day. At such a young age these beautiful young girls want to make the most of their youth and accentuate their very best attributes- again high street brands are made to suit the masses and there is no better feeling than a dress that fits like a glove!
Menswear Bristol is a family business passed down through many generations. It was originally founded by a farmer who noticed that due to the demands of his vocation he constantly had to replenish his clothing, because it could not withstand the harsh weather conditions that are all too familiar in Britain. It was then decided that a range of clothing and accessories would be created to suit this ever growing niche in the market. Menswear Bristol is undoubtedly the most famous name in Britain in the farming community. Menswear Bristol provides a range of high quality and attractive clothing for farmers of all varieties. For the sheep shearers there are loose fitting shirts and materials that are machine washable. For agricultural farmers there are a wide range of highly practical but attractive Wellington boots so that trudging across fields to check on crops becomes a pleasure rather than a chore. Furthermore, Menswear Bristol also provides clothing and accessories for ramblers and twitchers. These pursuits also require clothing for all weather conditions and obviously those who are a fan of these pursuits are renowned for their impeccable taste in clothes.
When one thinks of tailoring as a career we imagine little old ladies in spectacles adorning skirts that make a swishing sound as they walk, it was therefore no surprise to me that when I embarked on a recent stint of work experience with Tailoring Bristol that the manager was a carbon-copy of my earlier description. Terrifying in her demeanour, brandishing scissors and a tape-measure she ushered me onto the premises and began to explain the ethos of Tailoring Bristol and my duties for the week. Precision and detail were emphasised from the outset and this was before we had even left the kitchen having been shown the refreshment making facilities. Tailoring Bristol specialises in clothes for the elderly but refined customer so a steady stream of Beryls, Franks and Margarets crossed the threshold each day with tales of yesteryear to entertain. Meanwhile I managed to perfect the art of tea and have enhanced my knowledge of herb growing and the increasing cost of ginger thins. Am I destined to become a tailor? I`d say that it`s probably best left to the experts! However, with my new found knowledge of herbs I am off on a work experience jaunt to the local garden centre next week where perhaps I will find my true vocation amongst the tomato plants, begonias and….. my new fiancé Frank who will also be my boss for the week.
